I personaly use a Soekris box with a netgate prism2 card and Linux hostAP. 
I bridge this interface with my NAT network.

I gave a Linksys WAP54G to my parrents.. it's farily nice, I get good 
coverage on all 3 floors of their house. (AP in basement)
