(ASCEND) (ANNOUNCE) traflogd-1.0

Hi everybody,

version 1.0 of the program traflogd is available for download at the URL
ftp://ftp.iks-jena.de/pub/mitarb/erik/admin/traflogd-1.0.tar.gz.

traflogd is a daemon for Unix-like operation systems intended to do SNMP
interface accounting on IP routers. It is reading traffic information by
SNMP at regular time intervals and writing the data to a logfile.

According to the principle "one tool for one job" further processing and
visualisation of traffic information is left to additional tools like Perl
scripts etc. This way it can be kept small and run as a daemon.

Version 1.0 has been completely rewritten. It can now monitor several
interfaces at several routers at once. Interfaces can be added together as
logical connections. traflogd-1.0 can deal with changing interface numbers
and multi-link connections on Ascend routers, too. Accounting can now be
done simply by giving the connection name. The interface state is monitored
and changes in interface numbers are recognized.

traflogd requires the CMU SNMP library (or derivatives), and bison and flex,
and has been tested on Linux and Digital Unix so far.

Have fun,
Erik
