The "User-Name" is not the PAP ID that the Max will send,
for dial-out connections as far as I can tell it is used only
for purposes of display and logging.
What you probably want is "Ascend-Authen-Alias", however
there were releases somewhere between 6.0.0 and 7.0.0
where this did not work (I can't recall which version I had
when I tried to use this...)

There will not be any feature additions in 6.x,
however Ascend claims they will continue bug-fix releases.
