(ASCEND) MPP and callback
Could someone from the Knowing People please clarify this:
Setup:
In an enterprise WAN, users work at home using callback.
1. Pipe calls MAX, gets callback; 1 channel used
2. Pipe user transfers Megs of junk
3. second channel gets up
4. user complains about telco fees
Shouldn't the MAX side call out to establish the second channel? The
customer is complaining that he pays the telco fees for the duration of
the 128K transfer.
In the manual ASCEND states that only the initiating side can add
bandwidth. Why?
How do the settings for DBA/BACP influence this behavior?
I have tried two different configs:
1. "use multilink PPP and BACP (all standards)"
Answer/PPP options/BACP=yes
Connections/thisuser/encaps=MP
Connections/thisuser/Encaps options/BACP=Yes
2. "use ASCEND MP+ and DBA monitoring (ASCEND specific)"
Connections/thisuser/encaps=MPP
Connections/thisuser/Encaps options/BACP=No
Connections/thisuser/Encaps options/DBA Monitor=Transmit-Recv
What I actually see is that if the Pipe opens the first channel it will
open the second also. How can I avoid this and force the MAX to open the
second channel?
Any hints welcome.
Best regards,
Wolfgang
