(ASCEND) Max4000 and SW 5.1 - Anyone??

Hello all, I am trying to evaluate upgrading a MAX 4000's software from 
5.0AP51+ to a newer version and I need some help in finding out what others 
are doing, or have done.

We have stayed at this level for quite some time due to problems with the 
login prompt being garbage when people need to connect with a terminal 
screen on newer revisions, but the last time we checked was _several_ 
months ago.  We are not using Radius, but rather RAS in NT.

What is everyone running on their MAX 4000's (4 PRI's)?  If you are running 
5 series, why haven't you upgraded?  Have you tried anything newer?  If you 
are running a newer version of the software, what problems have you 
experienced when compared to the 5 series?

I know, it is allot of questions, but there has been some changes around my 
office, and we now wish to focus on the 4000's and get the most stable box 
we can.  We have 4000's and 6000's.  We see no reason to dump the 4000's 
yet as they do well, we just want to make sure they are as stable as they 
can be.
