(ASCEND) Serial (RS232) tunnel with Max 4000?
Hi, unusual and perhaps hopeful question here....
I have a couple of remote sites with Max 4000, where we no longer have a
unix host on-site, which makes monitoring our UPSs a little difficult as
they only have RS232 interfaces.
Our new NASs (Tigris, or is that tigri?) have a facility where we can
"tunnel" RS232 interfaces from one box to another to effectively "mirror"
the data across the link, thereby allowing us to remotely monitor our UPS
using the "console" interface.
Does anyone know if there is any similar mechanism on the Max? Ie, to plug
some (any/arbitary) RS232 device into the console port and remotely
communicate with it, rather than the more conventional plugging in a
terminal to communicate with the max itself?
Any suggestions or pointers to same, will be appreciated.
