Re:re: (ASCEND) Router for ADSL

Actually the ADSL market leader is Alcatel with over 50% of all ADSL DSLAM
installations. GTE, PacBell, Southwestern Bell, BellSouth, and others use
Alcatel. You need to be careful when buying ADSL CPE equipment, because it must
be compatible with the DSLAM (call your telco to confirm what DSLAM is in the
CO). Ascend (now Lucent) recognized this and came up with a Alcatel-compatible
ADSL router (the CellPipe 50A). When G.Lite comes out these compatibility issues
should be resolved.

It has been said that Flowpoint is the DSL market leader and they make the
best DSL routers. They also sell a lot of DSLAMs (the equivalent to the DSL
TNT) which makeup 60-70% of the install base in the telcos. UUNET has
stated that their subscribers can standardize on Flowpoint equipment for
all UUNET sponsored DSL installations.

Go to www.flowpoint.com for more information.

We're going to be putting on ADLS here through GTE. They bring in the
client's connection through a frame relay connection to the GTE cloud.

What router have the other ISP's been using for this?

Thanks,
