(ASCEND) TNT Shelf vs Ethernet IP addresses - help!

Help please as I'm stumped.

I want to move our RADIUS server inside our firewall using the 10Mbs shelf
controller to authenticate users and pass their traffic on the "live"
ethernet card port.

I've configured both ports and can ping via the TNT to the internal network
and out onto the net. I can also authenticate via the shelf controller.

Problem: no dial-up users can access the net!

What have I missed?

I also notice that the dial-up users have the shelf controller address -
should I set the system IP address to that of the ethernet card port?
