wow.. your date is way off.. :(

it's not very dificult.. safest way is to boot up to a rescue floppy, like a
slackware boot image, and the slack rescue.gz  don't worry about libc
versions.. you are moving files, not running apps.  read the manpages for cpio
and find before you do this.. you want to use "pass-through" mode with CPIO,
its the fastest, safest way to do it. :)
