One detail you must what out for is that LILO can only boot from the
first IDE controller; if your second hard drive is on the second IDE
channel, LILO won't be able to load it.

I second the idea of using Partition Magic to partition your drive for
Linux.  It's easy to make some space on an existing drive so that the
C: drive can be used to boot Linux even if the bulk of the Linux
installation is on a different disk.
