Um, that's not true. You can put Linux whereever you like - LILO, the
Linux Boot Loader has to be on the boot disk, and you'll be presented with
that option during installation. You _might_ need to play a little with
/etc/lilo.conf - some bioses want you to remap the drives around. You can
do that after you boot Linux up. 

What you should do though, is make a rescue or boot disk for Doze, and a
boot disk for Linux during installation, in case LILO blows up during
install. That way you'll be able to fix it.

I'd post my lilo.conf remapping thing, but I don't have it here. Let me
know if you need it, and I'll mail it to you.

I've got a K6-2, and I've had no complaints yet.

I believe the 'real' Red Hat gives you free support, comes with a book,
has a few extra programs (5.0 had the BRU backup utility and some X
server, I'm too tired to remember which). It also comes with a boot floppy
in case your CDROM isn't bootfrom-able.
