/dev/cdrom not working

hi,
    There appears to be  a problem with my /dev/cdrom file.  Whenever I try to
mount a disc in the cdrom drive, I get an error: /dev/cdrom: too many symbolic
links
It appears that it is not a problem with the drive but with the file (since I've
tried 2 different drives).  How can I fix this?
