GMP2 and RSA
Cough cough. After looking at the U.S. version of res-rsa, I have found
some interesting things.
First, it turns out that the default setup of res-rsa uses rsa_util.c which
has no dependencies on GMP at all. rsa_utilmp.c is the actual file which
uses GMP. No wonder I never previously encountered problems with the Vanilla
server and GMP 2.0...
Bob has modified the rsa_utilmp.c file as per Kurt's instructions. I will
test this out in a moment.
But this sort of begs the question: with even 486 computers being more than
sufficiently fast enough for the RSA algorithm, maybe we should just remove
the GMP dependency completely? Is there a reason to force people to use GMP
if it isn't needed at all?
Lastly, I am only familiar with building RSA-enabled Paradise/TedTurner
clients which use the new-style rsa_black_box* functions built by the
new mkkey program. This program is not part of the res-rsa package.
What format do the other clients use? new style mkkey? old style mkkey?
genkeys?
