I'm talking about Mats Olsson's rewrite of the server and client in
Java. It's more than a rewrite, however, since it was written from
scratch and is not compatible with the existing client/server code
base.
I think Java is the way to go. It may be premature, but I know I'm
not going to spend a lot of energy into maintaing the C code if it's
going to be obsolescent. Whether it becomes obsolescent or not
depends on how other developers feel. If others feel that they'd like
to go in the Java direction, it'd be best if we planned a smooth
transition to it.
So, what do others think?
