It's a FYI that is an interesting read.  The patent makes 54 claims that,
if broad enough, could cover internet based real-time games like Netrek
and other more recent PC games like Quake.

Note that there are over a dozen other patents granted on various
distributed systems similar to the one described by RTime, Inc. with
names like "Multisite multiplayer interactive electronic entertainment
system having a partially player defined universe" and others.  But
you have to read the claims to see if they really mean anything to
networked games.

It's also interesting to note that all these patents post-date the first
incarnation of Netrek by many years....
