Quoting Bob Tanner <tanner@real-time.com>:

Port 1080 is the metaserver html ouput port. It just accepts
connections and spits out the metaserver output in html format and
then disconnects.

It was a incidental/malicious redirect mentioning to get us in trouble
I would imagine. If any URL is mentioned in spam, the spam MUST be
from the URL maintainers.

The spam actually came from best.com's newshost posted from
dialupA72.hlna.uswest.net.

Obviously, whoever reported this spam just submitted it without
reading it. The process seemed totally automated witout any human
intervention or analysis. By sheer chance, it hit continuum's
metaserver instead of mine on the nslookup/whois searches.
