two seperate problems,
in the case where a user has an ethernet card
and a DNS server on the LAN which is not Internet connected,
and dial-up networking (thus two TCP/IP entries in control panel)
the MS KB article is correct (if a bit confusing... connectoid???)

in the case where a user does NOT have ethernet,
or not running IP on the LAN but only on dial-up network connection,
none of this is needed, and in fact you should NOT touch
the control panel at all, but should either use
"server-asigned" for everything, or set addresses manually
in the dial-up network profile.

not that this really has anything to do with Ascend...
