(ASCEND) Advice on using modemdiag?

Hi, all...

I've taken the leap to K56 and 5.0Ap42 and, in addition to some other
kinks I'm trying to work out, I'd like to dope out the stats that
modemdiag is returning. Is there somewhere this is documented? I
searched Ascend's site, but struck out.

For example...

: TERMINATION REASON.......... LOCAL REQUEST
: LAST TX rate................ 26400 BPS
: HIGHEST TX rate............. 26400 BPS
: LAST RX rate................ 24000 BPS
: HIGHEST RX rate............. 24000 BPS
: PROTOCOL.................... LAPM
: COMPRESSION................. V42Bis

I think I get what those are indicating (seems pretty straightforward).
It's nice to see what the rates are for each direction, BTW.

: Line QUALITY................ 024
: Rx LEVEL.................... 023
: Highest Rx State............ 67
: Highest TX State............ 67

These -sound- really useful, but I'm not sure how to read them. Is
there a range of Line QUALITY levels on some objective scale? Are
there certain values that would/wouldn't be able to support K56 (or
a stable connection in general). What do the State's indicate?

: EQM Sum..................... 0082
: RBS Pattern................. FF
: Rate Drop................... FF
: Local Rtrn Count............ 00
: Remote Rtrn Count........... 00

These I don't have a clue about.

: Flex fail

I assume this means Flex couldn't be negotiated with the customer's
modem (i.e. it wasn't a Flex modem). For folks with Flex modems I'll
get something like "Flex 948181023581"... does the number break out
to anything useful? Speaking of which...

: BEGINaa15ab15ac15ba13bb13bc13ca77cb67cc203da5ea1eb0fa19fb19fc99ga10gb0ha28hb20hc43hd0he88hf159hg0hh0hi0ia26ib26ic26ja1jb0jc0jd0ka1kb1kc0kd1ke16kf16kg16kh7ki38kj0kk0kl10km33kn255la0lb0ma1mb15mc53na0nb0oa255ob255oc255pa2pb4qa15qb15ra0rb255rc255rd255re255rf255rg255END

...has there been any progress in getting this format documented (or
in getting source to sr.exe)? I (or lot's of other folks, I'd imagine)
would be happy to do the coding to make a *nix version happen.

IIRC there was discussion of a FR to return that hex string via Radius
or syslog. Any word on where that stands?
