Re: (ASCEND) V.90 Code upgrade

Basically, yes. Our customers can dial in to a PRI directly, and all of
our "dialup" PRIs roll over one another, with the 56K modems at the end.
This way, people with 56K modems can be basically assured they will get a
56K connection while during peak times people dialing into the "standard"
dialup pool may hit a 56K modem.

We have two dialup "main" numbers, which are connected to separate hunt
groups; one for ISDN and one for modem dial-in. Each of the PRIs could be
dialed in directly, so we publish the number of the 2nd-to-last PRI in the
modem hunt group as our 56K phone number.
As a result, our hunt group works nicely for our customers' needs.

Since we haven't upgraded anything yet I will definitely take this advice.
I am just hesitant to upgrade any of our Max given the awesome stability
of them over the last 6 months with 5.0Ap42! :)
If/when we make the jump to 6.1.x I would rather do it under a stable
firmware revision but I figured it would be nice if we could have all the
rest of our boxes "stable" while we played around with 6.1.x/V.90 on the
only box we have that supports it.
In light of recent reports of problems both by people on this list as well
as people I have talked to elsewhere in the ISP business, I have been
understandably hesitant to upgrade. Right now we get -few- calls about
people getting disconnected or having any of the 'pausing' or you-name-it
bugs out there that creep up often. ISDN is working great as well, but we
have a lot of people pushing for V.90...
So much for stability!
Thanks,
Rob
