My comments are in addition to the info at:
http://www.nealis.net/ascend/faq/ascend-faq-q3.html#p25
I can only speak for the P25, and there it depends on which model you have:
(All use the same hardware but have different software options)
P25 "Classic"
The original version of the P25, has no artificial limits
on number of users/MAC addresses. Original factory equipment
could have either IP or IPX routing enabled but not both.
A hardware STAC compression card was an option.
You cannot telnet to a P25 as you can a P50/75.
This model does not support NAT in modern software,
although there was one incremental release that did
just before the P25 PX was introduced (4.6Bi??).
This model required a static address block for itself and the LAN
(when using IP routing that is)
This model is no longer available for new purchase.
The hardware STAC card is no longer available for new purchase.
IP/IPX routing is no longer available for new purchase.
If you have one of these die you may get back a unit
that has both IP and IPX routing features enabled,
allowing either IP or IPX software images to be loaded.
(Both protocols are not available simultaniously)
P25 FX
same as the P25 classic except it supports bridging only,
and no routing of any kind, with a maximum of 4 MAC addresses.
P25 PX
same as the P25 classic except it supports NAT for a single
IP address only. You can give it a static address (only one)
or a dynanic one, but it won't know or care which.
