(ASCEND) DOV on tnt (again)

I know the maxtnt CAN do Data Over Voice for isdn calls, my question is HOW?
I even tried hard-coding a call-route on each T channel to my HDLC card, but
it's still as if the calls aren't being answered by the card. Should I
believe Ascend's FAQ which suggests any call-routing I put on a T card
itself will never get used or should I believe the doc that sez it'll get
read as long as it's any value other than the default?

Any hints?
