(ASCEND) Netopia 650 vs. Pipeline 50
Hi,
some of you might have read about it in another thread, Ascend is
apparently still shipping the old slide-switch Pipelines (at least
the Pipeline 50) here in Germany. Ascend in Germany seems to know
nothing about this, nor can they say when and if the new model will
be shipped. Our distributor was pretty shocked when I told them
what was going on a few days ago, and from what I heard they are
getting the exact same information from Ascend - none.
Needless to say, this is absolutely unsatisfactory and the five
Pipeline 50's we ordered today were the last ones until we get
some official information from Ascend.
So, here are my questions, I'd be extremely thankful if
someone could help.
Basically we need to know how the Netopia ISDN routers
compare to the Pipeline 50. I was told that the comparable model
in Germany would be the Netopia 650, so here are my questions:
- does the Netopia NAT (SmartIP?) operate similar to the
NAT of the Pipeline
- will the NAT actually perform well and run stable under high load?
- Does BACP work with an Ascend Max on the other side and is
it comparable to MP+?
- Is there anything important to know about about this router,
any drawbacks, pitfalls etc.?
- What is your general opinion regarding the Netopia ISDN
routers?
In case it is of general interest, I'd be glad to post a
summary. Any comments are appreciated.
