Re: (ASCEND) NAT, Pipe75, stops routing.
I know this is in reference to an old thread, but it seems to accuratly
describe my problem.
My setup is a P50 (slide-switch model) connecting to a MAX 4000 via ISDN
BRI, with a static IP at the ISP side, and a single machine on the LAN
side. It is using Single IP NAT running rev 6.0.2, although I have had
problems with every software version I've tried. The connection is used
mostly as a mail server and for the most part dedicated, except when
the P50 decides that it is done routing NAT for a while. It usually stops
routing for about 20 minutes or so, although sometimes longer, before
either disconnecting or resuming normal operation. A disconnect, either
automatically (which does happen sometimes) or manually, will always fix
the problem until it decides to flip out again. It usually does this at
least a couple times a day.
AFAIK this problem still hasn't been fixed, and I'm mainly just looking
for any kind of status update as to when Ascend plans to fix this (if
ever..). I called Ascend about a month ago, Ticket #211861, and was
told that the problem was known and being addressed, and I would be
notified when a fix was performed. From what I can tell from the archives
however, this is a problem that has been being "looked into" for quite
awhile now.
If it isn't going to be fixed, I'd at least like to have Ascend give me a
good explaination as to why, not this "we're working on it" type stuff.
I'd also like to know why other vendors have no problem with NAT, but
Ascend can't seem to fix the problems that are repeatedly reported to
them...
As an aside, I really like my P50. For the price, it was everything I was
looking for. I've been satisfied with everything except this problem.
Unfortunatly, this is one of those problems that is really driving me
nuts...
