Dunno about a "magic list", but I can say that we have a large percentage
of users using Global Willage modems (all models) with no problems.
The GV modems are unique (on Macs at least) in that the majority of them
require CTS Only handshaking, rather than the usual CTS/RTS (DTR) more
common with high-speed (such as it is) modems.
They are also picky about their init strings. AT&F1 ain't gonna cut it.
