well, truthfully, Ascend support did not misinform you, the latest
versions of software DO have the features you need, but the latest
versions of software do not work on older P50s.  as you may be aware,
they only have 1mb on onboard memory, while the rev2 boards have 2 megs
memory.  Who did you purchase from?  Ascend doesn't really sell direct,
they sell to resellers.  My advice would be that you go back to the
reseller and tell them they misinformed you, because you asked for a
specific feature and they sold you a box that knowingly/unknowingly
didn't support the feature.  just my two cents.
