Re: (ASCEND) IPSec on P130's

Thats the problem. You don't generate your own hash code. The page sends an
email to Jan at ascend, who generates the hash code and emails it to you. Support
told me to go this web page to get the hash code for IPSec on the P130. Jan
emails back that she can not give me a hash code for IPSec on the P130 and tells
me to check the included chart for IPSec requirements.
The chart says that all P130 units are support for IPSec except for P130 units!?!.
Jan says to follow up with Support. Support says to follow up with Jan. Meanwhile
I've waisted a week chasing a freaking hash code around and still don't have
a straight answer.

I'm starting to think the P130 just can't do IPSec and Ascend is burying it
under a bunch of bullshit so they can keep selling P130s. The only thing I
can figure is that the newer P50s and P75s have more CPU and memmory than the
P130s, that must not have the horsepower to do the tunnel encryptions. Who
in their right mind is going to buy a P130 (we usually recommend them over p50/75s
for the ability to up to frame later) if you can't do VPN with it, why blow
twice as much money. As product specialist for Merisel, where we buy a good
bit of our pipes, please figure this out and don't recommend P130s to people
planning on implementing a VPN down the road. We now have to eat the price
of a P130 and replace it with a P50 for a client because of a VPN that we have
already sold and promised.....based on Ascends docs/specs at the time of the
P130 purchase. (and the ftp site at ascend still has bi.p130 as a software
load for download.... i according to the naming conventions file means IPSec
on in the pipeline! but after loading it looks like a hash code is need! the
web site is VERY misleading also).
