(ASCEND) Testing NFAS secondary D channel

After a recent outage affecting one of our PRIs, the telco providing the
line said that the second PRI in the NFAS group is configured for a
secondary NFAS D channel, which was news to me but that's telcos for you.

So I set the 24th channel on that span as nfas-secondary-d-channel in our
TNT and then disabled the primary span as a test, which caused the second
span to go DF.

Was that a bad test? Will the secondary D channel work if the T1 containing
the primary is enabled=no? Or has the telco hosed up the secondary D
channel?

We're running 7.2.0.
