Very odd! Three days later and I don't see any replies yet (would have
replied sooner in fact but I was out of towm).

The above list (the one from the telco) is combining two parameters:
the interface type and the LMI type. The interface type is either
DTE, DCE, or NNI. DTE and DCE are both UNI (one vendor calls DTE
by the name UNI and DCE by the name NUI, i.e. UNI backwards).
NNI (Network to Network Interface) is meant for frame relay switches
talking to other switches. You should probably be using UNI (User to
Network Interface).
Now on to the other parameter, the LMI type:

That's aka Annex D.

Annex D UNI. (And configure your interface type to DTE. The telco will
be DCE)
