RE: (ASCEND) MAX 4048
Kevin, slips are a result of a clocking issue on the circuit. Make sure
that your max is not trying to drive the clock against SWBell's circuit.
They should be providing clocking and you should be set to receive. Also,
you didn't mention what types of circuits you had, are they PRI, CT1's or
both? If CT1, what is the line coding, are they ESF,B8ZS or D4,AMI? Do you
have PRI and CT1's in the same box? Make sure that the circuit is running
the same line coding all the way thru. If it is supposed to be AMI and
somewhere along the way something is putting out B8ZS, you're going to have
problems as soon as the line gets loaded and you will see exactly what you
are experiencing.
Also, Max's get the primary clock source they use from the 1st wan port in
use on boot up. It's possible that something has gone wrong in that port.
You could test by unplugging the circuit plugged into wan1 and rebooting the
box, thus letting it grab it's primary clock source from wan2. Just a
suggestion. It would be helpful to know more about your config and what
types of circuits you have from SWBell. Also, what circuits are reporting
slips and in what box and what port are they plugged into.

Subject: (ASCEND) MAX 4048
Okay all, I have a mystery here. If anyone has heard of this or
something similar, please let me know!
I have two Max 4048 boxes running TAOS 7.0.4. They were running
perfectly answering calls from Southwestern Bell T1's until just a few
days ago. Now, most customers are getting dropped every 4-5 minutes
like clockwork. Bell has seen timing slips on two circuits, one on each
box. Could this be an issue with the Max or more likely an issue with
Bell? I've tried everything I can think of to remedy it from this end
including a clean load of the TAOS and configuration. They've tried
replacing the hdsl cards on both ends of the circuit and that hasn't
helped. Does anyone have an idea?
Thanks in advance!
