(ASCEND) A follow up on 'bad' calls...

The other day there was some discussion about when a call is considered bad,
at link level or authentication -- I just double-checked the "MAX 4000
Series Administration Guide" and it reads:

"A call is noted as bad if modem handshaking fails at any point in the
inital call set-up, or if the dial-in user does not successfully log in."

Which means if the user can't authenticate for any reason, such as they
forgot their password, the call is considered bad and your modem can end up
on the suspect list (and therefore reboot your max) for no good reason. :-(
