Re: (ASCEND) Upgrading a MX2E1 from 4.6A
Boy, that is an old box. Sounds like what you have there is what they
call a Max Classic. If you look on the back, it should also have two
serial host ports (i.e. host/dual ports) to the left. You are correct
that the BNCs are another way to hook up E1s, but usually you would only
see this when using R2 signalling. These boxes don't have an onboard
Ethernet interface. It requires an Ethernet expansion slot card. The
question is, does Lucent even sell these anymore (I doubt it since it's
a discontinued model)?
Hi Folks,
Don't laugh, I've got an old MX2E1 I'd like to upgrade from 4.6A.
I can get to the box via the console but I can't see how I can hook this
up
to the Network, there are 2 E1 RJ45 Interfaces on the back with 2 BNC
style
connectors either side (which I'm sure are another way of hooking it up
to E1s)
It also has a RJ11?? (Telephone Jack)
Does anyone know if you can put this on a Network or will I require an
Ethernet card because it's so old?
Thanks
Ray
