Just want to add a little to this discussion.  Remember that you will
only get up to 56K for ISDN callers since T1s use robbed-bit signalling
and that prevents the T1 from being able to utilize the 8th bit on each
channel on every 6 frames.  If the T1 was nailed, then you can get clear
64K on every channel (but for what you want to do, you can only get 56K
ISDN).

If you were to use the "Collect DNIS/ANI" feature on the Max (this is in
case you want to also have modem callers in the future), remember that
it is only supported with the Inc-w-200 or the Inc-w-400 setting.  All
other settings on the line configs of the Max will not work (in fact,
the 'Collect DNIS/ANI' parameter will say n/a).

Other than that, yes, it's completely possible to have ISDN callers call
into a T1.

would post something like that (even though I am about to test it
out here for myself since I'm now pretty sure I can do it).

The nice part about my installation is that I don't have to worry
about that stumbling block.  My max4048 terminates only ISDN
callers, and all analog modem cards have been removed.  Therefore,
my max does not need to be able to distinguish between call
types, because it handles all incoming calls as ISDN data calls.
We did this in order to terminat DOV (Data Over Voice), so that
our users could make their data calls 'look' like voice calls
(at 56kbps) so that they could avoid paying $.01/minute/channel
which is charged by the telco for data calls.  Now we just
want to go one step further and replace our $750/mo T1/PRI
with a $210/mo CT1.

I  know what you mean... I have been down that road more than once...
which is why I'm very glad that I don't think I need to for this
particular case.  :)
