(ASCEND) MAX6000 and 10/100 Ethernet?

Hello,

we are experiencing problems with a MAX6000 unit connected to a 
switch. When the switch was originally set to 10/100 autosense the 
MAX was reacheable only intermittently. After setting the switch to 
10Mbps it worked fine for a couple of days. Last night the MAX went 
down again (no ping, no telnet, calling the MAX resulted in a busy 
dialtone). A reset (off - on) didn't help. The problem was "solved" 
by plugging the MAX into a different port on the switch.

I couldn't find any settings pertaining to this subject on the MAX or 
in the documentation.

Does anyone have a clue as to what is happening and possibly how to 
solve the problem (other than trash the MAX6000 and use Cisco 
equipment)?
