No, but James, Dave, and I have just decided to re-vamp the entire
observer system (see the latest PROJECTS file). It essentially sucks
at the moment.  The code the bug report is for will die as soon as I
get off my rear and finish it.

If someone else wants to try to fix this particular bug, though.....
