I agree here. If all we are looking at is "porting" the program to Java,
what will really be gained from doing so? Now if the question was instead
if we should reach a point where we will "freeze" this release of Netrek
and create a majorly different Netrek game entirely, then I would recommend
that those people that want to go a smiliar route like Olsen's TNG should
form a group and go for it. That way the new program doesn't have to worry
about the legacy chains of Netrek and maybe the Netrek maintainers can
scarf, I mean borrow, ideas to make this a better game also.
