MPP is not BACP. You need to enable BACP in the:

/ethernet/answer/PPP options/BACP=Yes

set "encaps = MP" (Not MPP), and then select "BACP=Yes" in the
profile encaps options.

Because the MAX4000 uses MP+ (or BACP).
