OK, I'll correct. STAC or the first Ascend STAC has nothing whatsoever to
do with Cisco. And to be fair, Cisco's first STAC wasn't broken either.
Both implementations were pre-standard. Each vendor implemented STAC as
they thought best. Neither was compliant when RFC 1974 was finalized so
both had to update their STAC code. Both have older versions running to
this day out in customer networks, so we still have to deal with this.
