Might, can, should etc. This may have been your particular observation, but
*MANY* other installations use this configuration quite happily.

Hmm? I don't know of any case where this has been done. On a local PBX
maybe, but not loop-timed back to the telco....?

Maybe I missed it, or missed the conclusion....
