(ASCEND) Troubleshooting a Pipeline Connection Continued

Ok, with the suggestions from both Joe and Marcus, I dumbed down the connect
to simple PPP and tried both CHAP and PAP logins.  If I'm not mistaken.  The
line indicating the problem is:

PPPIF-16: Administrative CLOSE of LAYER_AUTH : Close OK

Can anyone please tell me what these logs mean?  I did check the PW and user
name. But if this is indicating a problem with that, I'll check with SW Bell
again.

Pipeline 85.  Both channels are used.
