(ASCEND) SuperPipe 155 and T1 Connection

We are trying to get a Lucent SuperPipe 155 to talk nicely with our Cisco
3640, but all seems to be failing.  Everything looks to be configured
correctly under the Nailed T1 > Mod Config menu, B8ZS, ESF, 24 DSO's, etc,
etc.  It works, but not completely.  Every 15 seconds or so the ESF light
on the SmartJack will blink and the CSU will go into alarm.  We see it on
our end and on their end.  They can pass data over it when it's not in
alarm.  It's very odd.  We've had the phone company check and re-check the
line, they found nothing.  We put an Adtran TSU LT on their end and
everything green'ed up and stayed green, which leads us to believe there
is something wrong with the CSU in their SuperPipe.  We are all out of
settings to change and switches to toggle.  We didnt have anything hooked
to the serial port on the Adtran so we aren't 100% sure it would work if
there was data being passed across, but the fact that the ESF light didnt
blink is encouraging.

Anyone know what magical setting we may have overlooked?  Are SuperPipes
pieces of crap?
