(ASCEND) Problems around 64 users with 6000 & 7.2.3

We've got a very weird problem that we haven't been able to get
a good handle on. We have three sites; two have MAX 4048s and
one has a 6000. The 6000 has three PRI lines, five 16 port V.90
cards, and runs TAOS 7.2.3.

Every afternoon when the 6000 gets around 64 users, users who call
in get connected, then dropped immediately. It looks like the modems
negotiate, but the MAX dumps the calls right after that.

I have the Ascend Radius daemon running, and are logging everything.
We're getting lots of entries like these...

Jan 11 15:42:53 allowaymax Backoff Q full, discarding user
madhorse[316121249]
Jan 11 15:43:17 allowaymax ASCEND: call 79 CL 0K  u=qiserv c=185 p=60
s=64000 r=64000  h=X.X.X.X
Jan 11 15:43:17 allowaymax ASCEND: slot 9 port 1, line 1, channel 15, Call
Disconnected [MBID 179; 8562231491->4313]
Jan 11 15:43:17 allowaymax Backoff Q full, discarding user
cmcnamee[316121239]

Is this all normal?

Does anyone have any suggestions where to start? The other MAXes
work so well that we've never had to debug anything with them, and
we're a bit overwhelmed by the odd problems we're seeing.

Thanks,

Bob
