(ASCEND) Radius for large user base

Hi folks,

I have radius running on a UNIX box with /etc/raddb/users as follow:
username       Password = "UNIX"
        User-Service = Framed-User,
        Ascend-Data-Filter = "ip in drop dstip
        blah blah blah

If I have more than 32000 users, then the /etc/raddb/users will grow to
about 32000*nlines and /etc/passwd reach it limit.

I thought if I modify Ascend radius code to query the database direct instead
of the UNIX passwd I can by pass the 32000 records limitation.

Have anyone done this before? In case I am re-inventing the wheel.
